Tonbridge Lions

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Phil Jesson, President of the Tonbridge Lions Club, who gave us a fascinating insight into the life of a Lion and answered a wonderful list of questions that our curious Prep children had prepared. We found out that the Tonbridge club was the first to be established in the UK and has recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. Most importantly, Mr Jesson shared how the Lions work voluntarily, to strengthen communities and help those in need, which fits so closely with our SuperKind initiative and values. He also brought a furry friend with him, who helped answer the question, "What does LIONS stand for?" Liberty, Intelligence and Our Nation's Safety.

We are so proud to be able to support the Lions at community events such as their summer fete and Dragon Boat racing, but particularly at our Harvest Festival, so it was lovely to hear how these funds and supplies are distributed within the local area. Next time the children spot a 'Lion' in a tabard at a local event, they will all know a little more about what this brilliant club does for our community.
