‘Lisa’s Lovely Lunches’

We would like to introduce you to our wonderful school chef, Lisa, who has been providing delicious, healthy, well-balanced nutritional meals at Hilden Oaks for nearly twenty years. Although Lisa and her team are employed by The Contract Dining Company, they are an integral part of the Hilden Oaks family, and on first name terms with every single child in the school.

All the meals are prepared and cooked on site daily, and they use a three weekly menu cycle. There is plenty of choices with a main dish, a vegetarian option, filled jacket potatoes, salads and, of course, a dessert, yoghurt and fresh fruit, as well as fresh homemade bread daily .

If a child has an allergy Lisa is able to adapt base recipes but for more complex allergies, a nutritionist is able to accommodate this with menus specially tailored to a specific child’s needs.

Lisa and her team love providing a positive experience at lunchtime, encouraging the children to try new things and to enjoy eating a heathy balanced meal.

From time to time, Lisa also pops into some of the classes to talk to the children about the need for good nutrition and healthy eating.

Breaktime Snacks

For morning break, pupils are encouraged to bring in a small healthy snack and drink. (No sweets, chocolate, crisps, cereal bars, food containing nuts or carbonated drinks)
