We are an independent co-educational prep school and nursery for children from 3 months to 11 years of age. Our vision is that we want all pupils to say that this is the best school they ever attended, all staff members that it is the best place they have ever worked and all parents that it is the best choice they have ever made for their child.

Hilden Oaks is a Values-based Education (VbE) Accredited School. As a VbE school our pupils, staff and parents have identified a suite of values which we hold at the heart of our school community. These values underpin all that we are and everything we do as a school; they create a framework which informs the standards of behaviour to which we all hold ourselves accountable, they provide a shared vocabulary through which pupils can articulate our school culture and they offer a benchmark for pupils as they learn how to interact with others as part of both the school community and society as a whole.

Our culture ensures that this is a school where every child feels valued, where they understand the importance of their unique contribution to the school community and where they feel it is safe to challenge themselves, knowing that making a mistake is a crucial part of the learning process.

Our ethos also provides the foundation of a stimulating, challenging and dynamic learning environment, which demands the highest standards from staff and pupils alike.

School Aims

  • To prepare children for both independent and state secondary education by providing a stimulating and caring learning environment built on a firm foundation of Values- based Education.

  • To create a friendly family atmosphere where every child can be safe and happy, developing good manners and respect for others.

  • To treat every child as an individual and motivate them to reach their full potential, gaining confidence and maturity as they progress.

  • To employ outstanding teachers who can inspire a lifelong love of learning and promote the highest academic standards.

  • To involve parents closely in the education of their children and include them in the life of the school.

  • To provide a benefit to the general public in accordance with our charitable status.

Whilst we are proud of the results our pupils achieve in the 11 Plus and Common Entrance examinations, with all children winning places at their secondary school of choice, I believe that our primary responsibility is to nurture in our pupils a life-long love of learning. To achieve this we offer a broad curriculum that encourages children to think beyond the confines of an exam-based syllabus. This is reinforced by a wide range of extra-curricular and cross-curricular activities, which enable pupils to discover those talents and interests that will enrich their whole lives.

I hope you enjoy looking at our website and that you will want to visit us to discover for yourself the wonderful school that lies behind the red door.
