Admission Procedure

At Hilden Oaks, we understand that choosing the right school for your child is an extremely important decision for your family and we will help and support you in any way we can. You may find it useful to look through the rest of our website and follow us on Facebook or Instagram, to glimpse life at Hilden Oaks and discover what makes our school so outstanding. For availability of places contact Ms Angela Norman our Registrar.

Book a visit to the school

You are, of course, warmly invited to visit the school for one of our forthcoming Open Events or we can arrange a personal tour with our Headteacher, Mrs Sharon Wade, at a mutually convenient time. On either occasion, you will have the opportunity to see our wonderful Open Mornings school ‘in action’, and meet the staff and pupils.

Request a taster day

Following your visit, and if a place is available, the Registrar will offer your child a ‘taster day’, which will help your child experience a day in the life at Hilden Oaks. The Registrar will then arrange for parents to meet the Headteacher at the end of the day for feedback.

Taster Day

After your visit…

  • …your child will be invited to spend a regular school day with their current year group. Before the visit, we’ll ask you to complete our education provision form and submit your child’s latest full school report, so our staff can give a warm welcome.

The taster day starts at 8.15. On arrival, your child will be welcomed by the class tutor or a class buddy. They are encouraged to join their prospective class and take part in all scheduled lessons, providing plenty of opportunities to meet new classmates.

During the day, staff will appraise your child and conduct a brief informal assessment, getting to know them both academically and socially. A hot lunch will be provided.

Towards the end of the day, Mrs Wade will meet you to discuss feedback and next steps. Then, your child will be ready for collection after your meeting.

  • …to the school, Mrs Norman will invite you to bring your child to the Nursery or Preschool (depending on their age) for a short unaccompanied play session with staff and children. This 30-minute session will allow our staff to meet your child before we make an offer.

Feedback with the Headteacher

Towards the end of the school day, Mrs Wade will meet with you to talk through your child’s experience at Hilden Oaks.
