Learning Support (SEND)

Pupils with SEND make excellent progress from their starting points because of planning that is tailored to their individual needs.

Additional learning support takes place during morning class intervention time. Our SENDCo and specialist teacher bring expertise across the full field of neurodiversity and are dyslexia- and assessor qualified.

We screen all children for dyslexia at the start of Form 4 and offer a wide range of other assessments, all included within school fees.

If their needs are complex and persist despite extra support, your child has a Personalised Plan. We advise on and fully support applications for Education Health and Care Plans to the local authority.

An independent Speech and Language Therapist visits Hilden Oaks each week as well as other professionals including occupational therapists.

A table filled with educational books, games, and supplies for children, including books on spelling, autism spectrum disorders, social skills, and storybooks, along with puzzles, dice, and containers of craft supplies.

At Hilden Oaks we recognise that the most brilliant minds of the future are often uniquely different.

Neurodiversity is both a strength and a challenge—a critical aspect of children’s development that we identify and support in partnership with parents. For children’s wellbeing, early identification and intervention are a key part of the relationship we build as your child develops.

Many of our children have high learning potential alongside special educational needs—we celebrate and support both at a whole school level within our values-led culture.

Each term we assess your child’s progress and review what they need to achieve their potential.
