Music

The Music Department is very active throughout the school. Weekly class music lessons are taught to all year groups from Nursery to Form 6 by a specialist music teacher. In these lessons the emphasis is on practical participation by all children. The aim is to be fun, and the children are taught using the voice and a range of melodic and percussion instruments.

All the children are encouraged to perform in formal and informal concerts from Reception onwards. The formal concerts, which take place in the School hall, are performed in front of parents and weekly informal performances, form part of our assemblies.

From time to time, children are given the opportunity to try out different musical instruments, prior to starting individual or shared music lessons. There are also a number of lunchtime and after school music clubs to give the children further opportunities to play together.
