Caring for our environment

RSPB volunteer, Anne Waddingham shared her love of birds and the local environment with Hilden Oaks this week.  From what and when to feed, to great places to spot birds of prey, Anne inspired the children to notice nature on their doorstep.

The children were surprised to hear that the RSPB exists today thanks to the voice of a local woman from Tunbridge Wells and a fellow activist, who worked hard to change the laws about the treatment of birds.

Many of the children identified a great variety of our feathered friends, including a: Blue Tit, Grey Heron, Greenfinch and an Osprey. Anne shared that her passion for birds began as a child and that noticing garden visitors is a great way to start.  As you will see from the RSPB link below, feeding birds the right food is really important.

Thank you Anne for your visit and for all that you do to support the RSPB in our local community and beyond
