Book Week
'Book Week' has been a lively and enjoyable celebration of reading across the school. Pupils have taken part in a Readathon and a range of reading challenges, with many hoping to gain sponsorship for the time they spend with a good book. There has also been great enthusiasm for the book character scavenger hunt, as well as the designing of class hats inspired by books. The hat designs sparked plenty of conversation about favourite characters, genres and the many different ways we enjoy reading.
Thursday was 'World Book Day' and we marked it with a relaxed reading café. Pupils from different year groups spent time together sharing books, chatting about stories and enjoying a biscuit or two. There was plenty of happy book blather! On Friday, we welcomed a visiting theatre group who performed twice, once for Kindergarten and Pre Prep, and again for our older pupils, bringing a selection of books to life on stage. Pupils also came to school dressed as their favourite book characters and the costumes were wonderful to see. Many are now looking forward to the 'Book Bop' this evening and the chance to celebrate a great week of reading together with a good old boogie!
