Bilingua Sing

As part of our series of assemblies focussing on careers, we were delighted to welcome a Year 3 parent, into school this week. She spoke about how her fascinating upbringing - in the shadows of Canterbury Cathedral, surrounded by music and modern foreign languages - shaped the person she is today and the career choices she has made. From professional singer, French tour guide to the joys of motherhood, Mrs Traill said,
"Life is a journey, you should choose a path that reflects your passions".
"You don't need to know exactly what you want to do, but follow your heart".
Children across the school asked wonderfully curious questions about music, singing, performance preparations and creativity. Mrs Traill shared a breathing technique that she uses to help her before live performances, and how we can re-frame our understanding and feelings of nerves into excitement for things to come.
Linking her passions for languages, learning and music, Mrs Traill now runs 'Bilingua Sing' classes locally. During assembly, she used her Bilingua Sing techniques to get the whole school singing in French to familiar songs.
