Big Cat Sanctuary
On Wednesday, Reception went to The Big Cat Sanctuary, near Ashford, where they were treated to a private tour of the site. They met many different cats, including: Lira and Amani, two African female lions rescued from Ukraine, a beautiful Amur tiger named Luca, which they found out is colour blind, and Neron, a black Jaguar who looked just like Bagheera from The Jungle Book. The children had a fantastic interactive session with Gill and Liz their two dedicated keepers for the day, where they touched skulls, teeth and fur from the animals. The site was exactly what it said on the tin; a sanctuary for big cats to retire and rehabilitate.
