Aim High Writing Workshop
On Wednesday, four pupils from Forms 3 and 4 took part in an ‘Aim High’ writing workshop with author Sam Gayton. Our Hilden Oaks pupils were beautifully behaved and took part in the sessions with great enthusiasm. Sam proved to be an inspiring writing teacher. He was warm, funny and full of energy, and encouraged everyone to take creative risks. He taught the pupils how to intrigue readers with a mysterious character in their story openings, how to use MacGuffins, which are objects at the heart of a book that everyone desires, and encouraged us all to write about the things we know best: ourselves and our emotions. The children produced some lovely writing, full of imagination. Well done to everyone involved.
