HILDEN OAKS STAFF RAISE OVER £700 FOR CHARITY
Seven members of staff at Hilden Oaks School & Nursery, and two of their partners, took part in the 2017 London Winter Run at the weekend, raising over £700 for Cancer Research UK.
The organiser of the team was maths teacher Mrs Fisher, whose enthusiasm for the event encouraged three rookie 10k runners to join the team.
17,000 runners ran the course, starting in Trafalgar Square, passing St Paul’s Cathedral, a “penguin party” complete with snow blowers, and finishing by the Cenotaph in Whitehall.
A combined time of 7 hours and 4 minutes (for the Hilden Oaks staff only) meant that Deputy Headmistress Mrs Wade won the school sweepstake.
The team were delighted with their success, and with the still-growing total raised for charity. Mrs Fisher said: “The staff at Hilden Oaks all get on really well together so we had a fantastic day out. There was a great atmosphere, and the team worked really well together, creating some wonderful memories in the process. We intend to do something similar again in the near future.”
