Careers Week

For our 'Careers Week', we focused on the different jobs people do and were delighted to welcome a Police officer, a Physiotherapist and a Fruit Breeder, which enabled the children to see and begin to understand the diverse range of careers that will be open to them in future. Thank you to all our visitors; PC Bobby, Dr Hilburn and Dr Palmer for coming into school to share your knowledge and experience.

It was fascinating to hear from Dr Palmer, who is a fruit breeder, how she entered this line of work and how we all benefit from the wonderful tasting foods on our supermarket shelves. Making the most of her visit, Dr Palmer also taught three science lessons where the children tested different versions of strawberries and the sugar content of different fruits, in addition to a breaktime Q&A session with some of our older scientists.

Lisa our catering manager, also served up some of Dr Palmer's fruit with ice cream for some valuable 'pupil voice' at lunchtime. The children were delighted to give their feedback, of course!
