WONDERFUL WEMBLEY TOUR
Parents and children had a fantastic Saturday out at Wembley, with a thrilling tour of the stadium.
On a sparkling January morning, as a finale to the school football season, 31 adults and children gathered outside Hilden Oaks and set off for a grand day out at Wembley Stadium.
The group's private tour took in not only the areas of the stadium open to the public, but also the dressing rooms and the Royal Box.
The tour guide was a font of knowledge, volunteering many interesting facts about football matches played there, as well as events that had taken place over the years, and he also knew a huge number of fascinating and obscure details. Did you know that the stadium has a circumference of 1km? Or that the roof is over 11 acres in area, of which four of the acres are retractable?
The Royal Box was a highlight of the tour, with children and parents having photos taken with a replica FA Cup.
Thanks go to Mr Johnston for organising the trip. Next on the agenda is a trip to a live football match. Watch this space...
