A Performance to Be Proud Of
A group of Year 4 and 5 singers joined a combined schools' and choral group choir to perform in the Global Folk night of Folk Music at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks.
Twelve children from Years 4 and 5 took part in a fabulous evening of entertainment at the Stag Theatre on 29th February, having rehearsed regularly at school, and completed a day's workshop at Combe Bank School before half term.
They sang a selection of folk songs from around the world in a choir consisting of children from Hilden Oaks, Amhurst School, Cudham School and Combe Bank School, together with a group of adults from the Combe Bank Choral Society.
The choir was accompanied by a professional jazz band, led by Paul Bartholomew (who toured with Jools Holland for ten years).
The Hilden Oaks children composed the lyrics to a verse of "Little Silver Moon" which just the twelve of them sang to the whole theatre. It was a nerve-racking moment for them, but they carried it off with aplomb.
It was a very enjoyable evening for the audience of friends, relatives and the general public... and the children loved it too.
