38 School Records set at ground-breaking Key Stage 2 Sports Day
2015 was a record breaking year for Athletics at Hilden Oaks, with new events introduced, boys' records introduced, and a very impressive performance by the children.
On a rainy Monday morning in June, the children from Years 3 - 6 gathered at Tonbridge School Athletics track. Though the weather didn't bode well, the children ran, jumped and threw with commitment, and a huge number of records were set and broken.
New track events included the 4 x 100m Relay, the 800m, and Hurdles for Years 3 and 4. In the field, Javelin and Discus made their debut as events.
Of particular note on the day was Hattie's performance in the under 10 age group, as she set four school records, while Dot (under 11) matched the 120cm height she jumped at IAPS, confirming her place in the Hilden Oaks record book.
Another first on the day was the introduction of records for boys' events. Josh in Year 6 provided the benchmark for generations of Hilden Oask boys to come.
At the end of a lively morning, Holm were victorious in House Athletics and were presented with the shield.
Mrs Sizer commented: "Despite the adverse conditions, the children were fantiastic, not complaining at all. The competitors supported each other brilliantly. I would also like to thank the Year 6 parents who were so helpful on the day."
