Centenary Tea Party
Past & present, pupils, parents, staff & trustees gathered to celebrate Hilden Oaks Centenary
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on Saturday 11th May to mark a truly special occasion. It was wonderful to welcome back so many former pupils and staff, some of whom were reuniting for the first time in many years. We were particularly pleased to be able to bring together our current headmistress, Mrs Joiner, with her two predecessors, Mrs Webb and Mrs Bacon.
Some of our guests were pupils at the school in the 1940s and 1950s, when it was across the road, Our most senior alumnae was Miss Judy Haines, who was a pupil in 1938 and then went on to become a teacher from 1948 - 1956! It was also wonderful to welcome Mr Michael Keith-Lucas, one of our founding headmistress' grandsons and his wife, who were representing
the family for the occasion.
The children delighted us with their wonderful music performances of Mrs Carol Bottle's compositions (one of the original music teachers in the 1920s), 'Have You Heard Our Band', with special orchestral arrangements by Mrs Flawn. They also recreated traditional maypole and country dances, and danced 'through the decades' giving us a lovely trip down memory lane.
A wonderful time was had by all and we are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to making the afternoon such a success.
