Water Bottles for Gambia
A huge thank you to everyone who donated a water bottle to our Gambian Projects Overseas Christmas Appeal.
On Wednesday 23rd January 2019, David Bennie and his wife Gill came to assembly to receive the 85 bottles packed with toothbrushes, toothpaste, stationery or first aid supplies. David showed the children photographs of a typical day in the life of a Gambian child who attended the Nursery school that they visit twice a year. The children were interested to see a few similarities to Hilden Oaks in terms of uniform, lessons and some newly donated computers. They also spotted differences such as cleaning teeth at school, sharing a plate of food together and walking to and from school independently.
David and Gill were overwhelmed by your generosity and told us all about a small school in rural Gambia who have no supplies at the moment, so the bottles will be shipped out next week and after a long voyage will reach their destination in about 6 weeks.
We look forward to seeing photos of them arriving!
