Religious Weddings

During their RS lessons, Form 1 have been busy finding out about special places. They watched weddings taking place in a Sikh Gurdwara and a Christian church. They have also looked for differences between Christian and Jewish weddings. Some of the things the keen-eyed children noticed were a symbolic wedding ring and the breaking of a glass. Most noticeable is the Bedecken veiling ceremony, where the bridegroom puts the veil over the bride (to make sure he is marrying the correct bride). Form 1 were very keen to act out the Bedecken ceremony and the boys carried this out thoughtfully and carefully. The lesson ended with everyone learning to dance the Horah.
