Welcome to Hilden Oaks School & Nursery, I hope that this website will give you an insight into what it’s like to be part of the Hilden Oaks Family.
We are an independent co-educational prep school and nursery for children from three months to 11 years of age. Our vision is that we want every child to say that this is the best school they ever attended, every staff member that it is the best place they have ever worked and every parent that it is the best choice they have ever made for their child.
The first time I walked through the Hilden Oaks red door, I was struck by the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, the happy, smiling faces of the children, the sense of family that pervades the whole school and the warmth of the welcome I received from everyone I met. It is this caring, nurturing and welcoming ethos that underpins everything that this school is and everything it does.
Our culture ensures that this is a school where every child feels valued, where they understand the importance of their unique contribution to the school community and where they feel it is safe to challenge themselves, knowing making a mistake is a crucial part of the learning process.
Our culture also provides the foundation of a stimulating, challenging and dynamic learning environment, which demands the highest standards from staff and pupils alike.
Whilst we are proud of the results our pupils achieve in the 11 Plus and Common Entrance examinations, with all children winning places at their secondary school of choice, I believe that our primary responsibility is to nurture in our pupils a life-long love of learning. To achieve this we offer a broad curriculum that encourages children to think beyond the confines of an exam-based syllabus. This is reinforced by a wide range of extracurricular and cross-curricular activities, which enable pupils to discover those talents and interests that will enrich their whole lives.
I hope you enjoy looking at our website and that you will want to visit us to discover for yourself the wonderful school that lies behind the red door.
I look forward to welcoming you,
Katy Joiner, Headmistress
