Welcome toHilden OaksSchool & Nursery

Mindfulness

Mindfulness will be introduced as part of the curriculum

Hilden Oaks School & Nursery believe that children’s well-being is paramount to their successful education.  For the past few years they have been offering an after-school Mindfulness Club, which has helped those attending to:

  • Improve focus
  • Become more resilient in their day-to-day lives
  • Gain a deeper understanding of their emotions
  • Be more positive thinkers; promoting kindness and gratitude
  • Develop a sense of calm
  • Achieve a healthier mental well-being

From September 2018,  Hilden Oaks will become one of the first schools in the country to introduce mindfulness as part of the curriculum.  Pupils will benefit from a six-week mindfulness course during the academic year.  The course is based on recommendations from the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP), run by a trained mindfulness teacher.  For those children who wish to extend their mindfulness practise, the optional after-school club will continue.

“Mindfulness changes lives.  It sustains the children’s natural curiosity  and helps them engage more deeply with others” (Michael Chaskalson – Leading Mindfulness Expert)
