Bubbling with enthusiasm for Science
On Monday, Years 1 and 2 went to Sevenoaks School's “Innovation Week” and took part in the Bubbles and Balloons workshop.
The workshop was very interesting, exploring the best bits of bubbles and of balloons - blowing them, bursting them, and discovering all the amazing things that can be done with them. Things the group contemplated included:
– can you make a bubble last forever?
– can bubbles be made square?
– are you brave enough to stick a skewer in a balloon?
The children were encouraged to explore the properties of materials - how the shapes of objects made from some materials can be changed by some processes, including squashing, bending, twisting and stretching, how pushes and pulls are examples of forces, and recognising the differences between solids, liquids and gases.
They learnt many other things besides, in a fun, interactive environment. Who knew Science could be so much fun?!
