Singing for the Archbishop of Canterbury
The Archbishop blesses the Hilden Oaks Centenary Plaque
All the children in Forms 3 - 6 had the very great honour of being asked to sing for the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rt Revd Justin Welby on Tuesday 30th October, during his visit to Tonbridge. They sang "Siyahamba" an African Christian hymn, accompanied by a small band of musicians playing djembes (drums) and tuned percussion. Following a prayer of blessing, the Archbishop presented the head boy and head girl with an oak plaque to commemorate the start of the Hilden Oaks centenary celebrations. Headmistress Mrs Katy Joiner said " This was a really special occasion and one that will stay with me for years to come."
The Archbishop was accompanied during his visit by the Bishop of Rochester; The Rt Revd James Langstaff, the Bishop of Tonbridge; The Rt Revd Simon Burton-Jones and The Rev Canon Mark Brown vicar of Tonbridge Parish Church.
Hilden Oaks centenary celebrations will be continuing throughout this academic year.
