School Society

At Hilden Oaks we are justifiably proud of our academic record.

Academic success is, however, just part of what we offer the children in our care. Over and above this, we provide an environment where children feel secure about their own worth so that they can thrive. The school is not just a place of leaning, but a society in the true sense of the word. Pupils, teachers and parents all contribute to making Hilden Oaks into the school we are all proud of. What happens outside the classroom is considered just as much as what happens inside.

After School & Activity Clubs

Two after school clubs run until 5.30pm every day of the week, giving children a chance to wind down or do homework after the formal school day. The Acorn Club is for children in Pre-school and Pre-Prep. The Oaks Club is for Prep School children. In both the Acorn and Oaks Clubs children are given a healthy snack to sustain them through to home time.

Other activity clubs within the school include drama, gardening, judo, flower arranging, dance, CDT, Latin and yoga.

Saturday Academy

Hilden Oak’s Saturday Academy offers a range of activities combining enjoyment and education in equal and generous measure – pupils can currently enjoy art, cookery, judo and music every weekend during term time.

Saturday Academy is now open to non-pupils.

Find our more on the Saturday Academy pages or contact the School Office for details.

Parent, Baby and Toddler Group

Prospective parents particularly appreciate the free Parent, Baby and Toddler Group held in Acorn House every Friday morning in term-time. This informal group provides an opportunity for adults to relax whilst children play together under the supervision of staff. Visitors are welcome any time between 8.30 and 10.30am.

School Trips

Hilden Oaks’ proximity to London and the surrounding area allows us to provide a wide range of educational outings. Recent trips have included The British Museum, Bedgbury Pinetum, the Museum of Kent Life, the Isle of Wight and the National Gallery.

Educational Workshops and Productions

Specialist teachers are brought in for educational workshops and extra fun. In autumn 2009, children variously enjoyed leaning to bangra dance, taking part in Christmas productions, and World War reminiscences. Regular highlights in the school year include the annual nativity play, Christmas play and Christmas Fayre, the summer production, visiting authors, concerts, fun days, demonstrations and other term-time treats.

Community Caring

Within the school, children are encouraged, through example, to show respect and consideration for all people within our own community, becoming formal mentors and monitors for the younger children by Year 6. Regular fundraising events for charities and causes highlight the need for compassion in the wider world.

Parents' Association

All parents of Hilden Oaks pupils are automatically members of the Parents' Association, known to all as FOHOS (Friends of Hilden Oaks School). Like the school itself, FOHOS is active, vibrant and very friendly, achieving great results and enjoying the journey too. The group runs a variety of social and fund raising events during the year and is a real asset to the school.
