Pre Prep & Prep School

Hilden Oaks takes children at every stage of their school career through to age 11.

We are proud that children joining Hilden Oaks at any stage, even mid-term, are made to feel at home very quickly. We attribute this to the school’s child-friendly scale and the exceptional quality of our pastoral care.

This is more than a matter of keeping class sizes small and ensuring that all children are known personally by every adult, although this is fundamental. The difference is our total commitment to providing a happy education and our complete conviction that every child is an individual of worth, deserving the best. Throughout the school, from top to bottom and bottom to top, values of courtesy, consideration and respect for others are visible, tangible and non-negotiable.  Many parents tell us this is one of the first things that attracted them to the school.

Healthy Minds

Children at Hilden Oaks are encouraged to explore all their potential talents. Through the school, a wide range of extra-curricular activities are on offer, including activity clubs, school trips, inter-schools sports events and after-school clubs.  Children in prep school have their own Hilden Oaks After School Clubs so they can remain in school until 5.30pm each day, winding down and preparing homework.  Specialist learning support is also available to any child who may benefit from it.  Specialist learning support offers each child sensitive one-to-one help entirely structured to his or her individual need. This ensures that every Hilden Oaks child has space, encouragement and expert assistance to help them maintain their best performance and gifted children are helped to develop their special talents.

Healthy Bodies

Sport is a central part of the school curriculum, being recognisably important to the mental, as well as the physical, health of children. In addition to hard courts for netball, football and hockey year-round, the school has access to playing fields in summer for rounders and athletics. A cross country club runs at lunchtimes and other times. Tennis, gym and swimming are popular individual pursuits as are team games like rounders, netball, football and hockey. In netball particularly, Hilden Oaks pupils are enthusiastic and very successful competitors in inter-school competitions.

Nutrition

Nutrition is taken very seriously. Food is prepared by our own catering staff who cook fresh meals on the premises every day using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We ensure that all our children enjoy a balanced, healthy diet giving them energy and sustenance to take them through the school day.
